SkyTraffic: a drone fleet for monitoring road traffic and infrastructures

Presented today at LETExpo — the fair dedicated to logistics, transport, and sustainable intermodality held in Verona — SkyTraffic is the new project by CAV (Concessioni Autostradali Venete) in the field of technology applied to mobility and infrastructure safety.
It is an integrated ecosystem that enables the operation of remotely piloted autonomous drone fleets.

The new system allows CAV to use remotely controlled drones for monitoring highway traffic and infrastructures, and it is entirely powered by renewable energy sources.

The software, fully developed by IKON, enables drones to collect real-time data on highway traffic, simultaneously monitor the condition of infrastructures, and process the collected data through artificial intelligence algorithms that can identify and highlight potential issues requiring maintenance.
This innovative system therefore makes it possible to systematically inspect highways and optimize infrastructure maintenance operations.
